The project

Erie Fire Station No. 15

Mountain View Fire Rescue's Fire Station No. 15 in Erie needed a deep foundation to support its structural slabs.

General contractor Fransen Pittman selected Park Range Construction to install the micropile foundation. Our crew installed 10 vertical micropiles, 4½ inches in diameter, to depths of up to 32 feet, and tied them into new concrete pile caps and grade beams.

Two of the piles were drilled with a man-portable rig and the rest with a skid-steer-mounted rig. Capacity was verified with load testing to 60 kips, for a factor of safety of 2.
