Red Rocks Stage Roof

Thirty-five 6-inch micropiles to carry the new stage roof at one of the most recognizable venues in the country, load tested to 180 kips.

The project

Red Rocks Stage Roof

The new stage roof at Red Rocks Amphitheatre needed a deep foundation built on a tight site, with the drill rig and grout plant staged right beside the sandstone formations the venue is famous for.

Park Range drilled and installed 35 six-inch micropiles for general contractor GH Phipps. Micropiles were a natural fit: compact drill rigs fit the limited work area, and drilled, grouted piles socket into rock where large rigs and driven piles struggle.

The piles were load tested to 180 kips to confirm they met the design.

Scope of work

  • Six-inch drilled and grouted micropiles
  • Compact drill rig and grout plant staged on a confined site
  • Field load testing to 180 kips
